2012 Pinot Grigio – J. Hofstatter, Alto Adige, Italy
A classic & very expressive Pino Grigio, bright straw yellow in color withy an attractive aroma of citrus, peach, honeydew & especially pear. Medium rich, fruity, well structured & direct on the palate with orchard fruit flavors & tangy fruity acidity on the finish.
2021 Weissburgunder Pinot Bianco – J. Hofstatter, Alto Adige, Italy
Medium-full straw yellow in color, fresh aromas of peach combined with apple & pear on the nose, elegant & zesty on the palate, harmonious in structure, round with masses of finesse & a hint of nut on the finish.
2021/22 Pinot Nero Meczan – J. Hofstatter, Alto Adige, Italy
Distinguished by its unmistakable aroma & fruity character, bright color with garnet reflexes, and fresh stimulating bouquet with seductive hints of woodland berries and cherry on the palate, Meczan is harmonious, sappy and mellow. Pinot Nero was successfully introduced to Trentino-Alto Adige at the beginning of the 19th Century. It soon became evident that the gently sloping terrain & the micro-climate at Mason were perfect for producing Pinto Nero of international stature.
2022 Rosado Rosé – Olivares Bodegas, Jumilla, Spain
100% Grenache. Fermentation is done in tank after a short maceration with the skins to extract a bit of color. No oak aging.
“A fresh and subtle Rosé with red and white cherries, freshly crushed strawberries and a hint of grapefruit. Crisp, medium-bodied palate with a filling of elegant cherries and strawberries.”
2021 Altos De La Hoya – Olivares Bodegas, Jumilla, Spain
92% Monastrell and 8% Garnacha on organic ungrafted vines planted in 1872. The vineyard is referred to as Finca Hoya de Santa Ana and this bottling comes from the best parcel and the highest point, so they call it Altos de la Hoya, meaning the “highest from La Hoya.” Located at close to 825 meters in elevation. Sandy and chalky soils. Traditional fermentation. Aged in a combination of barrique and demi-muid. Most are 2nd- and 3rd-passage barrels from elite Burgundy producers.
“A complex nose of cassis, black raspberries, bonfire, a touch of licorice, a bit of cedar and a lovely array of spices in the upper register. Deep, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a good core of fruit, moderate tannins and a long, complex finish that closes with just a touch of raisiny fruit tones. A very good Jumilla and a fine value.”
