Rolling Stone Magazine recognizes this Argentinian icon as “The Rasta who revolutionized Latin rock.” With a career spanning over three decades, more than albums, 250-plus authored songs, and two Latin Grammy nominations, Fidel Nadal has established himself as a pioneer of Latin rock and reggae en Español. A voice of the Afro-descendant population of Argentina, he exploded on the underground scene in the late ’80s as co-founder and lead singer of the radically political rasta-punk band Todos Tus Muertos, followed by a stint as founder/singer of the ’90s cultural roots reggae trio Lumumba. Nadal launched his solo career in 2001 to focus on reggae gaining broad success with the hit songs “International Love,” “Te Robaste Mi Corazon,” and dozens of collaborations with renowned artists. His sound and style have influenced genres and a generation, and he continues to make musical history while inspiring solidarity, love and unity.
This engagement of Fidel Nadal is made possible through Southern Exposure: Performing Arts of Latin America, a program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, and through an ongoing collaboration with Duet Jazz.
